So, this is a project that I worked on for uni, it's rather big and I'm rather proud of it. There's a couple of things to be aware of:
- The chord symbols indicate the harmonies played/implied by Clark, not the bassist (Paul Chambers). The bass' notes only inform the choice of chord symbol when the piano part doesn't provide enough information.
- The chordal bits are probably inaccurate. I went for locked hands in the bridge whenever he plays the head, and listening back now I'm pretty sure that's wrong, but never mind. Also, the comping is probably off in several places, but I can't hear it properly half the time because the recording is a tad iffy. (And also, the division of stuff between hands is probably off in a few places, but the best ears in the world can't hear which hands are playing which notes. Can't blame me there.)
- A lot of rhythms are simplified, and I don't really take note of places where he lays back (there are just too many for it to be practical, really).
- I haven't notated articulations, except for a few places where he really smacks a single note really hard, which I added accent marks to, because I think that's cool when he does that.
- There's a lot of places where notes are ghosted or very hard to hear (sometimes intentionally, sometimes accidentally), which are all indicated with brackets round the note-heads.
- There's a few mistakes where he accidentally gets extra notes in there, which I've notated with diamond-shaped note-heads.
- I haven't tried to notate pedalling, mostly because I don't think there is any, but there might be, and if there is, I haven't included it, because I didn't want to.
That's it! This obviously isn't perfect, but it's pretty good as far as I can tell, and my lecturers seemed to like it, which made me very very happy, and I'm excited to share it now. Hopefully this is informative/pleasurable for you.
