The Last day of the Thumpers on the Reading - Basingstoke, 15th May 1993

15th May 1993 was the last official day the Southern Region of British Rail was responsible for providing traction for the local services between Reading and Basingstoke. On this day three class 205 [3H] units, 205029, 032 & 033 - fittingly these three units were originally constructed for use on Salisbury to Reading services in 1962 and were known as "Berkshires" - and a class 207 [3D] unit, 207001, which was originally built for Central section operation on Oxted and East Grinstead services but migrated to the South Western section in the late 1980s.
The first location is Basingstoke station, with 205029 in BR green livery arriving in to the bay from Reading.
Then off to Worting Junction, with 205032 heading toward Basingstoke with a Salisbury to Reading train.
Next, at Reading, 207001 is seen leaving and 205032 arriving at the bay platform.
205033 is seen leaving Basingstoke for Reading followed by 205032 leaving for Salisbury. In this shot a Network SouthEast 47/7 arrives on an Exeter to Waterloo service.
205029 is seen in the bay at Reading.
At Bramley, 205033 is seen arriving and departing with a service to Reading followed by 207001 with a service to Basingstoke and finally 205029 with a service to Reading.
