Day 1."In the First Week of October 1984, a group of 15 Trekkers from Association for Adventure Activities Meerut, boarded a Public Transport Bus from Meerut Bus Stand and set out for Rishikesh in morning hours.
We got accommodated in a Dharamshala at Rishikesh first and then we moved out for roaming around till late Evening.
Day 2.We got up around 4 am and got ready to catch another Bus for Uttarkashi.
The Bus took around 8 hours to reach Uttarkashi since 6am, where we hired a guest house for our Night Halt.
Day 3.Today too, we got up quite early and got ready to board another Bus for our next Destination around 5.30 am.
We reached Lanka in around 4 hours and then we Headed for Bhairo Ghati which is around 3.5 Km from this place. We enjoyed the whole Trek which was very Interesting and Thrilling too.
We felt Thrilled especially when we were going through a Hanging Bridge over the Turbulent River.
We took another Bus from Bhairo Ghati which was very old Model having Truck like Bonut.
As soon as bus covered a distance of hardly 3 km, it's Axil suddenly Broke down on gradient and our Bus started rolling Back down on sloppy road.
All were frightened badly then few of us jumped out quickly and put some stones under it's tyre to stop it.
Then we took another bus and reached Gangotri in one hour and got our Accommodation in 'Baba Kali Kamli Ashram' first.
Then we came out and clicked pics, some of us took Holi Dip into Sacred Ganges, some visited Temple of "Maa Gange".
According to Hindu legend, it was here that "Goddess Ganga"descended when "Lord Shiva" released the Mighty River from the Locks of "His" Hair.
Day 4. All of us got ready quite early and started our Trek around 7am because we had to cover a distance of 14km to reach our next Destination e.i Bhoj Basa.
We reached Bhoj Basa(12380') around 3-4pm, enjoying Nature, Clicking Pics, Sitting around Tea Stall during whole Trek.
Then we got accommodated into Lal Bihari Baba's Ashram along with Several Yatries and slipped into our Sleeping Bags quite ealry after having Meal because the Temperature was deteriorating rapidly.
Day 5. We got up around 5am and moved around 7 am without Rucksacks after having breakfast for our Next Destination e.i Gomukh as well as Tapovan for few of us.
We reached Gomukh (13200') in 1.5 Hours as route was quite easy and gradient was quite moderate.
We spent more than an hour near the Snout and took some Pics, then 5 of us headed towards Tapovan which is around 3 kms away from Gomukh.
The Whole Route goes on Gangotri Glacier through Scattered Boulders at the gradient of around 60° that's why it becomes very strenuous and Tiring. So we took more than 3 hours and reached Tapovan(14600') some how.
Though we were badly Tired, Exhausted and Hungry but the Extraordinary Beauty of Tapovan pulling our Attention to be freed from all such kinds of problems.
After spending some time we met Pilot Baba and requested him to arrange some accommodation and Blankets for us.
We were surprised to see Pilot Baba who was wearing only 'Langot' in such a Deteriorated Temperature whereas we were shivering badly.
Pilot Baba is an Indian 'Yogi Guru' who was previously Wing Commander Kapil Singh, a fighter pilot with the Indian Air Force.
He granted the Permission and we adjusted in his 'Kutia' and then we pulled Blankets in layers on our chilling Bodies and heard his experiences of his 'Sadhna' as well as about his previous Life.
I remember that Day was 'Vijaydashmi', so he served us Tinned 'Bengali Rasgulle'.
We came out in the Night and spent some time under the Close Roof of countless Stars.
We can never forget that Mesmerizing Beauty as well as Chanting Atmosphere of Stary Night of Tapovan.
We struggled a lot to go into the Lap of Sleep but it seemed unable due to killing Cold as we were not having proper Warm Cloths to encounter Below Zero Temperature.
Day 6.Some how we spent the Night and began descending around 7am after thanking to Pilot Baba with some Donation for his Compassionate Shelter.
