Le Choeur missionnaire de l’Institut de Théologie Saint-Serge a fait rayonner l’Orthodoxie à travers le nord de l’Europe (Grande-Bretagne, Bénélux, Suisse, Scandinavie) en proposant des conférences couplées à des concerts, de 1932 à 1939. Le conférencier n’était autre que Léon Alexandrovitch ZANDER , Professeur à l’Institut Saint-Serge et le chef de choeur, Ivan Kouzmitch DENISSOV, ténor de l’opéra impérial de Saint-Petersbourg et grand zélateur de chant liturgique. Le répertoire musical reposait uniquement sur des arrangements de mélodies identifiées de l’Usuel canonique de l’Église russe.
Certains d’entre eux ont été enregistrés en 1936-1937.
Parmi ceux-ci, voici la suite conçue par I.K. DENISSOV constituée d’extraits des matines pascales, sur des mélodies du Chant dit « grec », harmonisées par lui-même, suivies par l’arrangement que fit Mili Alekséévitch Balakirev en 1878, du chant à la Mère de Dieu « L’ange clamait » (Mélodie du Monastère Valaam).
