MP for Akuapem South Lawrencia Dziwornu visits the National Assembly of Nigeria #ghana

As part of efforts to enhance the effectiveness of Ghana’s Independent Constitutional Bodies, the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Constitutional Bodies embarked on a benchmarking visit to the National Assembly of Nigeria.

The Parliamentary Committee is charged with overseeing the functioning and efficiency of our Independent Constitutional Bodies; institutions that safeguard democracy, transparency and the rule of law.

To perform this role effectively, we must continuously learn, compare, and refine our legislative mechanisms.

Our visit to Nigeria provided a platform to gain firsthand insights into their legislative processes, particularly how they supervise independent bodies to ensure accountability and institutional performance.

The lessons drawn will directly inform our oversight functions in Ghana; helping us strengthen collaboration, improve governance structures and ensure our constitutional bodies deliver effectively for the people.
