PhotoPills Friday Ep 5: Learn How to Plan a MOON Image (even when not on location)

Welcome to Episode 5 of PhotoPills Friday! Today, we put together all the stuff we’ve been learning about so far and plan a moon image together! The plan will be of the full moon behind the torch of the Statue of Liberty, but the process can be applied to any moon composition you would like to create when you need to figure out:

1. where you should set up your camera to get the shot you want
2. what date and at what time the moon will be in the right position, and
3. you are not on location to scout it out.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE*** - PhotoPills has updated the app so that you NO LONGER need to add both the height of the building and the elevation difference between the red and black pins when calculating the apparent height of the moon over a building -- you only need to input the height of the building.
