#2. The Region is Bordered by Emilia-Romagna, the republic of San Marino, the Adriatic Sea, Abruzzo, Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany.

#3. It is the 15th Largest Region in Italy.

#4. The Local People are Referred to as the Marchigiani.

#5. Le Marche is the Epicentre of Italian Dialects!

#6. It Covers an Area of Just Under 10,000 sq. km (nearly 4,000 sq. miles).

#7. The Longest River of the Region is the Metauro, of 121 km (about 75 miles).

#8. Monte Vettore is the highest peak in the region.

#9. There are 5 Provinces of Le Marche:

(1) Ancona:
(2) Ascoli Piceno.
(3) Fermo.
(4) Macerata.
(5) Pesaro and Urbino.

(6) Truffles - a pairing of the truffles with the region’s pasta is called passatelli.
(7) Piadina - a popular Italian street food flatbread sandwich.

(10) Pork - sausages include the popular smoked sausage called ciauscolo.
(11) Cheeses - there are 4 main types.
(12) Pasta - Vincisgrassi (a pasta casserole with meat sauce) is the main pasta dish of the region.

(14) Acqualagna, in the Province of Pesaro Urbino, holds three main annual truffle fairs.
(15) Crema Fritta - this tanslates to “fried cream”.

Le Marche has more native grapes than any other region in the country.

The top white wines are Verdicchio and Trebbiano, whilst the top reds are Montepulciano and Sangiovese.
