Welcome to Morning Improv 70—a genre-blending performance where world music meets electronic experimentation. In this session, I kick things off with a driving 9/8 Karsilama rhythm on the Nord Drum 3P—a traditional Turkish groove often used in Balkan and Anatolian folk music, known for its asymmetric, danceable pulse.

Next, I layer in melodies on the bağlama (or saz), a long-necked lute central to Turkish and Middle Eastern folk traditions. Its bright, resonant tone adds an earthy texture to the rhythmic foundation. Finally, I bring in a fat analog bassline using the Behringer MS-1, tying the groove together with a pulsing, synth-driven low end.

This performance is for fans of creative live looping, global grooves, hybrid percussion, and experimental arrangements. Whether you’re into modular-style performances, traditional instruments in new contexts, or just want to hear a 9/8 rhythm flipped in a modern way—this one’s for you.
