Anna Schwartz | Women in Economics
The second episode of our Women In Economics series is on Anna Jacobson Schwartz, one of the most influential monetary economists of the 20th century.
Anna entered high school at the beginning of the Great Depression. While there, she took an economics course that changed her life. She dedicated the rest of her life to studying economics, changing our understanding of the Federal Reserve, the Depression, and more.
She is perhaps most famous for her book, A Monetary History of the United States, coauthored with Milton Friedman. It's one of the most influential works of the 20th century, and it still affects how the Fed works today!
