How to Create an Editable PDF using Canva // Today I'll be showing you how easy it is to create a PDF form like a checklist using Canva. It'll take you under 5 minutes!

These forms will give a professional look to any downloadable materials you might be planning for lessons or online courses and will provide great value to your students.

❉ To get started open up Canva and select whichever template suits your project.

❉ You can start your own template from scratch or to save a bit of time save for one of Canva’s free templates.

❉ I’m going to search for a checklist.

❉ To save time and ensure that the little boxes are a consistent size all you need to do is copy and paste them into the right place.

❉ You can also create a line to appear underneath where your text will go.

❉ When you’re finished creating your form download it by clicking on the downward arrow at the top RH corner of your Canva desktop. Choose “PDF Standard” as opposed to “PDF Print”.

❉ Now open “PDF Escape” at https://pdfescape.com in a new tab.

❉ Find where you stored your checklist in your local files and upload it to PDF Escape. This may take a few minutes.

❉ To make the boxes editable checkboxes you’ll need to add a form field by clicking the tab on the LH side of the screen. Go to the pull-down menu and select “checkbox”. Now click your cursor where you want the checkbox to appear. Drag to reposition the checkbox.

❉ Repeat this process.

❉ You can customise the appearance of the tick mark by selecting a different colour, for instance.

❉ Go ahead and save your completed form and download it again to your local files.

❉ Open it up on your desktop and you’ll see that you can now remove all those tick marks we added…and add them again by clicking the box.

❉ If you’d rather add an editable text field as well or instead of a checkbox then repeat this process over again and select “text” from the pull-down menu on PDF Escape instead of “checkbox”.

❉ Position your cursor where you’d like the text box to appear and then ‘draw’ a box with your cursor.

❉ Save and download to your local file.
