Montebello Road 2025 Partial Closure

Montebello Road is a popular gravel ride along the ridge from the gate at the top of the paved portion near the Vidovich Winery over to Page Mill Road west of Cupertino and Los Altos, CA. It may be subject to closures on weekdays until the end of December, 2025.

Portions of Montebello Road (gravel section) will be CLOSED on weekdays from Tuesday, September 2 (9/2) through the end of December for an Electrical and Fiber Communication Line Undergrounding project led by the City of Palo Alto Utilities Department. This work is part of an effort to reduce the risk of wildfire ignitions and enhance visitor experience in the preserve. While work is ongoing, please use alternative routes shown in the map.

There's a 0.2 mile (0.33km) section of the gravel road north of Black Mtn. where you may be able to walk your bike (or horse) beside the road on the mowed strip along the road.
