Why I Still Play Overwatch...

Thank you all for returning for two consecutive weeks of me uploading videos. Overwatch is a game that I have always returned to through thick and thin and I wanted to make a short and sweet video in that essence. I think a question I ask myself a lot, is why do I still play overwatch. It is a game that at times infuriates me and my fellow gamers. But I think it relates to why do anything you are not the best at but enjoy, I am going into almost my 6th year playing the game,and I do not think I have gotten much better, still straddling the ranks between Silver, Gold and Plat (at some times haha). But when trying new shooter games or even overwatch 2 (the beta a least, I may delve into that in a future video), I just do not have the same enjoyment, struggle and anger I normally would have with the original. The game challenges you to think on your feet, whilst presenting many complications, issues and room for growth. (Time to time you will get hit with smurfs or bad team mates but it is what it is). I have started to go from playing alone to queuing with my friends and while sometimes it can get increasingly serious, it brings a whole new dimension to a game I once saw and something to play on my own in my free time. When I started playing overwatch I was a barely highschool aged kid, who wanted to play new games since I finally saved up for a new PC, now I am college graduate, and through this whole time the game as given me solace, grief and continues to bring me joy. Would I say it is the perfect game, no, but I do not think any game is perfect, you take the best and worst moments of them and if they average out to something fine that is good enough for me. I imagine kind of crazily that I will keep playing overwatch for a long time, until (in like 3 months), they patch out 6 v 6 and leave me in despair of trying to pick apart the pieces of my gaming relationships. Overwatch definitely has been a fixture of mine. On an unrelated tangential note the other games on that list include NBA2K, EU4 and Minecraft, so certainly a variety of types and themes. Hopefully the enjoyment of this game will not falter as I grow older and have less and less times for video games as “real life” or at least what people call it sets it, but as an ode to my youth and appreciate the game and the many senses it can induce!
