One Tenth of a Nation: Achievements (1953) | Cartoonist Jackie Ormes

This film series highlights the contributions of African Americans to their communities and the nation. In this film, the following people and their accomplishments are featured: Air Force pilot Daniel James, actress and model Vera Francis, architect Paul Williams, Eslanda of Eslanda's Bridal Services, women's glove designer Athalena Lathan, pop songwriter and shoeshine boy K.C. Ferguson, Golden State Insurance Company administrator Verna A. Hickman, dentist and member of the Los Angeles Police Commission J. Alexander Somerville, food editor for Ebony Magazine Freda DeKnight, typewriter speed champion Cortez Peters, model and radio personality Dorothea Towles, 65 year British Embassy employee Charles Browne, piano roll creator Lawrence Cook, and cartoonist Jackie Ormes.
