Automated broiler partial harvesting technology for cage farming systems
Enables unloading of ⅓ broilers from the battery cage and distribution of the remaining birds within the vacant row space for further rearing.
The system is perfectly suitable for companies selling the young chick meat. It drives significant cost, time and resource saving during partial harvesting and grown broiler distribution process. Minimal personnel involvement and no contact with the birds contribute to better health and consistent weight gain of the chicks.
The battery cage row is divided into cage blocks with 3 units separated with partitions in each block. Each middle unit is equipped with the bottom shifting mechanism and modified KoChiBo feedbox with feed supply shut-off valve.
In order to perform intermediate harvesting, only few simple actions are required:
● At the discretion of the process engineer, feed supply to the modified feedboxes is shut-off for several hours before harvesting commencement.
● The litter removal belt is switched on, and the bottom of each middle cage block unit is shifted manually.
● After harvesting completion, the partitions between the cages are released, and the birds are free to evenly spread across the general vacant space.
The harvesting process proceeds in the darkness or under special lighting conditions to eliminate the stress factors for the flock and prevent negative stress effects on poultry weight.
The intermediate harvesting technology is compatible with AUTOMAT and ROBOT automated final harvesting solutions.
