restoring the sponge bar in a knitting machine
Sponge bars are critical to the performance of most knitting machines and they don't last long. Here is a way to rebuild and existing sponge bar inexpensively using a self adhesive sponge strip made just for that purpose. Once your machine is singing, be sure to visit http://www.theanswerlady.com for great machine knitting books and patterns. I mention in the video that the sponge is about $5 which is what I thought I remembered paying but a friend got in touch and said they are more now. I checked the website and they sure are--more like $15-20 depending on which model. But IF they turn out to work as well as the originals, that will still be fine with me. These are advertised as being very durable so I'll give it a good run and we will see.
