The prime minister had called an all-party meeting comprising 14 leaders from J&K to discuss the prevailing situation in the Union Territory and its future course of action at his residence in New Delhi. This was the first such outreach exercise from the Centre since August 2019 when it abrogated Article 370 and bifurcated the erstwhile state into two UTs. PM Narendra Modi on Thursday assured leaders from Jammu and Kashmir that the central government favors holding assembly elections in J&K and restoring its statehood once the delimitation exercise is over. Political strategist Prashant Kishor met Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar here on Wednesday, a day after leaders of eight opposition parties gathered at Pawar's residence and discussed various issues facing the country. Mr. Kishor, who was instrumental in the thumping victory of the Trinamool Congress in the West Bengal Assembly polls, had met Mr. Pawar over lunch at his residence in Mumbai on June 11. He again called on the NCP chief at his residence in Delhi on Monday. Later this Mr. Pawar hosted a meeting of the leaders of eight opposition parties including the Trinamool Congress, the Samajwadi Party, the Aam Aadmi Party, the Rashtriya Lok Dal, and the Left at his residence in Delhi. These meetings with Mr. Pawar have fuelled speculations about the possibility of opposition parties coming together to form a third front against the BJP. Now the debate is is this true or not?
