Kuno the wonder dog: Medal for hero military canine who tackled Al Qaeda gunman

The brave Belgian Shepherd Malinois was shot in both back legs during his act of heroism and suffered life-changing injuries after taking out the Al Qaeda gunman in Afghanistan. Now retired, Kuno has been awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal for his devotion to duty - equal to the Victoria Cross, the highest award in the British honours system. His intervention saved special forces pinned down by grenade and machine-gun fire from an insurgent during a compound raid last year.
