Goodbye, Tanglin Halt: Bidding Farewell To Some Of Singapore's Oldest Flats | On The Red Dot

One of Singapore’s oldest HDB estates, Tanglin Halt is fondly remembered for its iconic 10-storey flats that appeared on the nation’s first-ever $1 note, as well as the food stalls that still continue to dish out heritage hawker fare at the old wet market. But this year, everything is about to change. Tanglin Halt is undergoing the biggest redevelopment for public housing in Singapore – the Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS). History buff and food blogger Dr Leslie Tay takes a walk down memory lane, but as he soaks in the township’s old-world charm and meets the hawkers and residents of Tanglin Halt, he discovers a community whose bonds are deeply rooted in the coming of age of a nation.
