Preliminary plans unveiled for Harborplace
A new Harborplace is taking shape with plans unveiled Monday for a mixed-use development of retail and commercial space along with a residential tower and amphitheater at Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Developers joined state and city leaders Monday to release initial plans that they said would transform the property from indoor malls to a more active multi-use space for living, gathering, recreating, eating and shopping. Developers said the design plan reorients the intersection of Pratt and Light streets back to a more historic grid layout in order to increase public space as well as maximize gathering space. Developers said the design adds 4.8 acres of new park and public space, including 1.4 acres of new promenade, for a total of 18.7 total acres.
