Green Pigeon - Some Wonderful Facts !!!

हरियल अथवा हारिल यानी Yellow Footed Green Pigeon के विषय में प्रचलित है कि ये पक्षी कभी धरती पर अपने कदम नहीं रखता और इस वीडियो का फिल्मांकन करते हुए मैंने भी अनुभव किया कि ये वाकई किसी भी कारण से जमीन पर नहीं आता यहाँ तक कि इस वीडियो में आप देखेंगे कि ये अपना घोंसला बनाने के लिए तिनके लेने के लिए भी धरती पर न आकर पेड़ों से ही घोंसले के लिए तिनके जमा कर लेता है !!!.

Regarding Harial or Haril ie Yellow Footed Green Pigeon, it is popular that this bird never steps on the earth and while filming this video I also felt that it does not really touch the ground for any reason even this video you will see that it does not come to the earth to collect the straw to make its nest, and collects the straw for the nest itself from the trees !!!.

Description:

Male ashy olive-green above; olive-yellow collar, band in dark slaty tail; lilac-red shoulder-patch (mostly absent in female); yellow legs and underbody. Female slightly duller than male. The nominate (northern) race has grey lower breast and belly. Small flocks; mostly arboreal, rarely coming to salt-lecks or cropland; remains well hidden in foliage but moves briskly; has favourite feeding trees.

forests, orchards, city parks, cultivated village vicinities.
Food:
fruits, berries.
Distribution:
south roughly of line from S Rajasthan to N Orissa to Sri Lanka; rarer in Pakistan.
