45596 Bahamas roars up the Mid Hants Railway - Mid Hants Railway Autumn Steam Gala 2020 - 16/10/2020

While the government has taken big actions within various places up and down the country, The Mid Hants Railway (also known as the Watercress Line), took a very brave decision to go ahead with their annual Autumn Steam Gala. Proposals were made by the Mid Hants Railway to make sure the Gala was to run in a safe and well-managed experience for everyone visiting, including a limit of 500 tickets sold per day to avoid overcrowding. On the evidence I saw, the railway has done an exceptional job through these very difficult times. I decided to film on Friday as it was the best day out of the three (weatherwise). The main highlight of the day was the amazing LMS Jubilee Class locomotive no. 45596 Bahamas visiting from the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. She made it to the railway a week ago and arrived safely and was as expected to be the star of the show.

The weather in the morning was gorgeous and although It clouded over later on the day, Bahamas put in a good showing over the Hampshire Alps. Unfortunately, my microphone failed completely, despite attempts to try and solve it, it wasn't to be. So in advance, I apologize for the wind noise on the shots I published, that's because the sound is from the camcorder's inboard mic which isn't as good as the external mic I used (or should I say used to use). I decided to film her at the various locations where she would be seen working hard up the steep incline towards Ropley and Medstead as she was facing Alton.
