A Pretext #ownpoem #ownpoetry

A Pretext is a #poem and I suppose a #protestpoem around the idea of populism and the rise of dangerous elements in the world. I do not generally believe in the national myths of any country whether it be rule of law or friendly native relations. Power requires people to do horrible things. The times we are leaving in are no different from other times but lessons of #history should be remembered. They do not need a real event they will make one. There's an excellent #twilightzone episode from the 60s that talks about this and the spirit of that certain leader. #rodserling had seen the rise of many dictators in his life. But I believe he also was seeing the importance of remaining vigilant against authoritarians.

A Pretext

I saw a bullet run through the sky.
Stop buying guns!
But we know what happened to Rhom.
They never need a reason, they’ll find one.
