Mother pleads to keep 8-year-old daughter's rapist and killer behind bars

Hopewell, N.Y. (WHAM) — Staci Ackerman was raped and murdered in her own bed Sept. 11, 1986 in Farmington by Greg Flint.

"This was a predator hunting his prey, and his prey was my 8-year-old daughter," said Sue Ann Cross, Ackerman's mother.

Cross was joined Tuesday by current and retired law enforcement and officials to make a plea to the public to keep her daughter’s killer behind bars.

Ontario County District Attorney Jim Ritts said it was a different world when Flint was sentenced in 1987 to 37 1/2 years to life in prison. Back then, Ritts said, you would expect parole to be denied.
