Arc gouging in my home shop with 5/16 rod
This video shows me arc gouging in my home welding shop with
5/16 rod. I have upgraded from originally using 2 small stick welding machines from amazon to 3 machines. My hope is that they will last a little longer if they are not pushed as hard. 2 welding machines is fine for 1/4 inch gouging rod and even 5/16 gouging believe it or not, but the 3 machine set-up has that little bit more punch while not pushing the machines as hard. I have included pics of the equipment I used and the welders, carbon arc torch and 5/16 carbon arc rods pics from the amazon.ca site. My compressor is 25 years old running at 90 psi. It was made in the U.S. and I re-wired it to 220 volts as soon as I brought it home. The welders are being used at 220 volts as well. they are dual voltage110/220 auto sensing welders. I would recommend a 50 amp 220 volt breaker in a home shop for this type of work. Enjoy the video.............
