Eid Al-Adha 2025: Morocco's Celebration Date Revealed! #newstoday #eidaladha #morocco #newstoday
Moroccan astronomer Ali Amraoui has revealed the date of Eid al-Adha in Morocco. Contacted by Le Site info, he confirmed that the holiday will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
The expert indicated that the month of Dhu Al Hijjah 1446 will have 30 days and that the 1st of the Hijri month will coincide with Thursday, May 29, 2025. Therefore, Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on June 7, corresponding to the 10th of Dhu Al Hijjah. The Day of Arafah is thus scheduled for Friday, June 6.
Although calculations allow for the precise date of the new moon, Moroccan tradition requires that the moon be visible to the naked eye. As usual, the official announcement will be made by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs after the new moon has been observed.
It should be recalled that King Mohammed VI, Commander of the Faithful, addressed a message to his faithful people regarding the abstention from performing the Eid rite of sacrifice, which was read by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, during the evening news on the channel "Al Aoula".
Here is the translation of the Royal Message:
“Praise be to God,
Prayers and Peace be upon the Prophet, His family and His companions,
Dear people,
Since We have been the custodian of the Supreme Imamate, founded on the unbreakable bonds of the Beia, We have ensured that, for the benefit of Our faithful people, we have brought together the conditions for observing religion, its obligations and traditions, its worship and its interactions, against the backdrop of what the Most High has been willing to bestow upon the Moroccan Ummah in terms of attachment to the pillars and respect for the most proven traditions, as well as the celebration of holy days, including the feast of Eid Al Adha, whose advent is expected in less than four months.
The celebration of this feast is not a passing occasion, but it carries strong religious significance illustrating the depth of the bonds of Our faithful subjects with the different aspects of Our Holy Religion and their desire to draw closer to the Most High, by striving to consolidate social and family ties through this venerable event.
Our concern to allow you to observe this religious ritual in the best conditions is closely linked to our obligation to take into account what our country is facing in terms of climatic and economic challenges which have resulted in a substantial decline in livestock numbers.
To this end, and taking into account that Eid Al Adha constitutes a confirmed Sunnah as far as possible, its accomplishment in these difficult conditions is likely to harm large sections of the sons of Our people, particularly those with limited income.
Based on the responsibility that falls to Us, as Commander of the Faithful, faithful protector of the cults of religion according to what the necessity and legal interest dictate, and in accordance with Our obligation to remove the hindrance and harm and to promote the establishment of facilitation while complying with the content of the Quranic verse: “And He has not imposed on you any difficulty in religion,” We invite Our dear people to refrain from performing the rite of sacrifice of Eid this year.
We will do this, if God wills, on behalf of Our people, faithful in this to the Sunnah of Our grandfather the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon Him, when He sacrificed two sheep, saying: "This one is for me, this other is on behalf of my Ummah."
Dear people,
We invite you to celebrate Eid Al Adha, in sha Allah, according to its customary rituals and noble spiritual meanings of Eid prayer in msallah and mosques, to the giving of alms, to meetings with one's loved ones, as well as the various pious works of devotion, giving thanks to Allah for His immense generosity and imploring reward and retribution.
+Say: This is my way! I call the people (to the religion) of Allah, I and those who follow me+. True is the word of Allah.
