French riot police used tear gas, truncheons, and police dogs to quell fighting on Sunday (14/6) between British and Tunisian football fans in Marseilles. The fracas came ahead of Monday's World Cup clash between the two countries. The fuse was lit on Sunday when a large group of singing and drum-beating Tunisian fans encountered a group of clearly
drunken English fans. French police in full riot gear quickly arrived on the scene and charged the English tourists, resorting to tear gas as they too came under a barrage of bottles and cans.
