Food Crisis Deepens in Goma | WFP Warns of Rising Malnutrition in DRC

Footage shows mothers and children arriving at health centres for urgent nutritional screening, where medical teams assess signs of acute malnutrition.
WFP officials warn that the situation is becoming increasingly critical, with rising needs far exceeding available resources. Funding shortages and reduced aid capacity are forcing stricter targeting of assistance, leaving many vulnerable families without adequate support.
According to the WFP, over 26 million people in the Democratic Republic of Congo are struggling to meet basic food needs, while millions of children are suffering from acute malnutrition, highlighting one of the region’s most severe humanitarian crises.
