We Bought a DERELICT Boat and Cruised it 1100 Miles did it MAKE IT? From St. Pete FL to Tennessee!

This is the full-length version of our journey home from St. Petersburg, Florida to Chattanooga, Tennessee aboard a boat that was not exactly ready to go.

We bought this trawler boat from a friend in Florida and decided to cruise it all the way home — even though it quickly became clear it needed more work than expected. Over several days, we tackled repairs and upgrades including new batteries, hoses, fluids, A/C units, and much more, all while racing against time and uncertainty.

Still not confident the boat was 100%, we made the decision to cross the Gulf of Mexico from Clearwater, FL to the Florida Panhandle. Being out in open water was an unforgettable experience, made even better with dolphins swimming alongside the boat.

From there, we headed north up the Tombigbee Waterway, eventually connecting to the Tennessee River — and that’s where things started to go wrong.

Did we make it all the way home to Chattanooga?
