At 407 South Palafox Street in Downtown Pensacola, a bronze worker tightens the final screw into a historic plaque — then walks inside for a well-earned cup of coffee. It’s a simple act, but one that symbolizes generations of hard work and resilience.

Originally built in 1898, this building has seen it all — from grocery store to tailor shop, restaurant to liquor company. After taking damage from Hurricane Ivan in 2004, it was beautifully restored by Quint and Rishy Studer in 2010 and now proudly houses the Bodacious Shops, a modern hub of coffee, cuisine, retail, and community life.

This statue honors the everyday heroes who built Pensacola — and those who continue shaping it today. From Historic Pensacola Village to Old Christ Church, and down the vibrant stretch of Palafox Street, downtown is more alive than ever.
