TSW Luxury Assortment

My pal Mike presented me with several dozen low-band U-matic tapes a few weeks back and there was a reasonable spread of continuity on them - mainly surrounding documentaries, schools, colleges and Open University programmes.

Like Mike, the tapes originated in the west country, so here's a compilation of some of the TSW material I found.

Look out for the footage of Westward's franchise renewal meeting with the IBA at 2min in. Peter Cadbury swings a mean katana.

Both short and long versions of the TSW ident are included - perhaps the most ludicrous animated ident in the history of ITV; it's certainly the most badly executed. It appears to involve some form of computer animation, poorly transferred to video, followed by what appears to be a live model shot of some polystyrene, coloured in with Dulux emulsion. A bit of a shame really as the static, graphic version is a nice piece of semi-abstract design.

It's easy to be critical of course and I'm sure the people who made it did the best they could with the available resources.
