If you can't "Merge" just copy and paste the frame into the layer you're supposed to merge, it's exactly the same thing
it's just used in the video to show the process faster

The same with Opacity on the X-RAY effect, you can just hide the x-ray layer and draw the lineart in a new layer, it doesn't really change anything
