KTM DDS Clutch Adjustment, Replacement, Maintenance and Settings – Cycle News

The KTM DDS Clutch is unique. DDS stands for Damped Diaphragm Steel and the system uses a single spring component to handle the pressure duties inside the clutch. That single spring component is called the diaphragm spring—also often called a bevel spring— and it’s used instead of coil springs found inside other off-road clutch systems. The benefits of the KTM DDS Clutch are easier clutch pull, lighter weight and the integration of a clutch damping system into the clutch hub to increase durability without sacrificing traction.

Adjusting the KTM DDS Clutch is different than traditional clutches. So, if you’re adjusting, replacing or just inspecting the DDS clutch system, it’s important to follow some simple steps.

Note: KTM DDS clutches are identical in four-strokes or two-strokes. Always work on your machine with the assistance of your owners manual for machine-specific components, settings and special tools you may need.
