Milling with an electric chainsaw - Best method

G'day All

This is how I turn small logs (under 14 inches in diameter) into lumber in my backyard without annoying my neighbours. The best thing about the electric chainsaw is that it’s relatively quiet. I am also pretty impressed with the power of this little $80 saw.

The timber in the clip came from a site clean-up that we did at work. I noticed some of the trees we were cutting down had some nice colour and figure, so I brought a few of these bigger logs home and slabbed them up. Later, I found out this timber was commonly known as Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) and regularly used in furniture and instrument making.

The little mill for the saw was very easy to build. It is the exact same design as my big mill just shorter in length (check out some of my other videos to see the big mill in action).
