Challenges in 2014
• No federal law explicitly protected transgender people from discrimination in employment, housing, or public accommodations.
• Many states had no legal protections, meaning transgender individuals could be fired, denied housing, or refused service based on their gender identity.
• Violence against transgender people, especially transgender women of color, remained a major issue.
• Legal name and gender marker changes on identification documents were often difficult and expensive to obtain.

Challenges in 2025:
Transgender rights are being stripped but don’t let it stop you! I made it this far… so can you. Keep your head up, be seen and live your truth. Be yourself! 🏳️‍⚧️
