Cattle Rustling in Ireland. 100 Animals Stolen

That's Farming and Golden Mean Media visit farmers Niall & Christa Dillon in an effort to help bring attention to their plight.

On the 24th of June 2015 in the town of Kilbeggan West Meath, farmer Niall Dillon had more than his livestock stolen. His livelihood was taken. After leaving the farm late Wednesday evening, Niall saw nothing out of the ordinary but when he returned Thursday he knew something was up. When Niall arrived at the farm, which is located 4 miles from his home house, he noticed that the lock was cut and the gates were slightly open. He knew something was wrong so he asked a neighbour to go to the yard with him. When driving down the lane to the farm he met a bullock straying on the road and noticed that the gate to the field where his cows and calves were in was open, with the chain on the ground. Niall saw there was only 4 cattle left in the field with the track of a lorry in the yard.
The livestock taken were:

9 cows with 9 calves at foot and due to calf again in December
12 red and black whitehead heifers and bullocks 14months old
28 limousine Charolais cross 1yr 1/2 old heifers and bullocks
17 two year old heifer and bullocks that Niall was just starting to feed to finish
25 ewes that were grazing in a stone wall paddock were also taken
