The Doctrine of the Inner Temple (Ep 4): Ebionite Sources

In this episode, we examine the doctrine of the Inner Temple as it is found in Ebionite sources. Who were the Ebionites? According to the most ancient records of the Church, they were the original Jewish followers of Jesus. They did not believe he was God and they did not believe he was virgin born. Some didn't even believe that he resurrected from the dead. Just like their Jewish neighbors, the Ebionites kept the entire Torah (Law) in both its written and oral aspects well into the 300s CE. They did not leave many writings behind but what we do have reveals that they inherited the doctrine of the Inner Temple from their rabbinic and Essene forerunners. Their unique innovation was in describing Jesus as a high priestly figure who officiated in man's Inner Temple.
