Paul Shaffer's "O Holy Night" Collection on Letterman, 1983-92

The year-to-year history may have been embellished, but the sentiment was true. Here are all of Paul's impressions of Cher's "O Holy Night" on Late Night, plus some bonus clips.

1. April 1, 1983. Yes, in April. Taped the previous day.
2. December 19, 1983. The first actual holiday rendition.
3. December 18, 1984.
4. December 12, 1985.
5. May 22, 1986. Discussion only. Before Cher's first guest appearance.
6. December 16, 1987.
7. December 15, 1988. Promo, with Edd Hall handling the voice/over. The tv family consisted of Jeff Martin as the dad, Maria Pope as the mom, and Alice Levi as the daughter. This clip had originally aired on February 17, 1987, as part of a promo for Dumb Ads.
8. December 20, 1988. Promo (encore).
9. December 21, 1988. The "muff" is added for the first time.
10. December 20, 1989.
11. December 20, 1990. Promo (encore). Edd and Jeff had left the show earlier in the year.
12. December 21, 1990.
13. December 17, 1991.
14. December 22, 1992. With Kenny Aronoff subbing for Anton Fig on drums.
