This is my first time making a video edit in this minimalistic style. I really like the end results. I do really think I was able to represent the story of this couple in a way that’s doing them justice. The video is a little too long but I had to cut so much already that I just didn’t care in the end. I couldn’t sacrifice the parallels! Hope you guys like it too.

Also, I promise this isn’t a sad show! LOL. It’s actually a drama/comedy and it is pretty funny and entertaining. I kinda manipulated the clips and lines to fit the narrative I was trying to create.

I haven’t uploaded anything on this channel for the last couple of months. To be so honest that it is bordering on oversharing, I haven’t had the motivation to watch anything, read anything, or even attempt to create anything. This show was a surprise. I saw it on Amazon Prime a few weeks ago and thought I’d give it a chance. I ended up binge-watching both seasons and it felt good to spend some time doing something that gives me joy again.

I knew I wanted to make an edit for this couple. This couple was interesting because they have one thing that always captures my attention; immense development. I loved how “love” formed between them and how it was different for each person. This show is loosely based on actual historical events but the romance part of it all is pretty fictional. I’m always interested in love stories that seem impossible, or that are made impossible by the people involved and their disappointing, yet very human, urges.

I titled this video, “This Is Not A Love Story,” even though it kind of is, because, to quote Catherine herself, “It’s not love what you did.” It feels like you can’t love someone and actively try to hurt them. You can’t love someone and get to mute those feelings while you’re doing things that contradict with your words and your feelings. It turns out that this is possible. While love and violence can coexist within someone’s heart, it shouldn’t.
