The first person with a spinal cord injury to take on a 400m vertical climb - Ben Tansley

In 2017, after being involved in a motorcycle accident, Tansley from Kings Lyn, Norfolk, suffered a T4 spinal cord injury and learned to walk again despite doctors telling him this would never be possible.

Last summer he achieved another incredible feat as he became the first person with a spinal cord injury to take on and amazingly complete the Red Bull 400 race in Slovenia in a quest to raise awareness for the Wings for Life foundation and the Wings for Life World Run.

Red Bull 400 is arguably the toughest 400m race in the world. Starting from the bottom of a ski jump participants must race 400m uphill at a height gain of 140m, equalling 40 stories, to the top. A difficult challenge for most, but a near-impossible one for Ben.
