"Ring The Bells" is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful songs ever written. A song with a message urgently needed in these uncertain times.

A song of unity, a song of peace, a song of love.

A song that could truly change the world... if only we would let it.

No matter who we are, where we come from, what we look like, who we love, how we worship (or don't), etc... there is only one undeniable truth: We are one. One world, one human race. For too long we've forgotten. It is time to remember.

What if someone made a Christmas album for everybody else? That’s exactly what Melissa Etheridge has done. Working alongside her producer David Cole, Melissa’s songs celebrate a spiritual time of year where people can rejoice in their traditional, or non-traditional ways, and celebrate a winter solstice filled with love and peace. This ten song album has newly composed songs such as “Ring The Bells,” “Light A Light,” and “It’s Christmas Time” interspersed with traditional holiday standards such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “Blue Christmas.” This album begs the question, “If we’re all talking about peace on earth, what if we all concentrated on peace on earth and made it happen?”

“I have never been a religious person, yet Christmas has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I’m the person who starts playing Christmas music from Thanksgiving on. Then, during the holidays of 2007, I realized that so much of Christmas is based in beautiful ancient traditions having to do with the solstice celebrations dating long before the Roman Christian times. This album is my attempt to bridge our old oppressive cultural ways with the enlightenment of our coming future. I have included some old favorites of mine and I have composed some new songs. These songs are filled with the spirit of the newness of life in the winter solstice along with some standard holiday images. We can all celebrate this special spiritual time of year in our own traditional or non-traditional ways. I hope this album can be a part of that.” – Melissa Etheridge
