Throwback Gene? Raised to Believe She was White but Couldn't Understand Why She Looked Different

Georgina Lawton was raised white by two white parents. Her parents explained that her brown skin and curly hair were simply due to a throwback gene from the late 1500s in Ireland. Georgina discovered the truth about her identity after years of searching. In this episode, Dr. Trish shares Georgina's background and also discusses the history of the term Black Irish in Ireland.

Raceless: In Search of Family, Identity, and the Truth About Where I Belong is the second book selected in Dr. Trish's book club. Dr. Trish will be interviewing Georgina Lawton this month. Don't forget to order your copy of Georgina's book before the interview!
