Cusco, Peru-Ancient Capital of the Incas (With Cusco Facts/Figures)

What I thought was just a gateway to Machu Picchu turned out to be one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. Cusco is over 11,000 feet above sea level and is the former capital city of the Inca Empire. It features amazing architecture, especially the two churches in the Plaza de Armas, the main square where executions, bullfights, religious processions, and other major events took place. HIgh above Cusco you can see the orange roofs for miles. The city (and surrounding area) is rich with Inca history and is a must-see for any Peru visit.
