Off-grid battery bank capacity: amp-hours vs watt-hours

The fact that battery manufacturers rate their battery capacity in amp-hours is one reason why us solar people still have jobs, it's dependent on battery bank voltage. I convert everything to Watt-hours because most folks understand Watts in some way (you have a 10 Watt LED light, your PV array pumps 1000 Watts etc), and:

Watts are always Watts. And over time, Watt-hours are always Watt-hours. No matter what the voltage. They are Power. Over time, they are Energy, Watt-hours (or most likely kiloWatt hours on your bill from your local utility. No need to know what the volts or amps are if you do it all in Watts.

I gave you your capital letters here, Mr. Watt, because you deserve them. And your name became an SI unit. And we can convert to and from it to Joules, Horsepower, BTU, many other units, a plethora of units.

Your statement from 1772 that you "would rather face a loaded cannon than settle an account or make a bargain." certainly rings true for me, also.

I've used this story from (about 1996 in the field?) to try and explain why your unit rocked the world.....and it was steam power back then, with some horses added in. We have PV now, but your unit still works,

Thank you, James Watt. For making both Power and Energy more understandable.
