I finally found my preferred way to do this and have valued the process of discovering how I LOVE to insert a fly front zipper. Why not share?

This can be applied to any pattern, pant or skirt.

The shield and fly extension length can be modified to suit the length of your zipper. I like both pattern pieces to have the same length and be at least 3/8”(1cm) longer than the zipper stop.

About the top stitching: It is a personal preference and my option is to not go overboard. Enough to make the constrution work and to make it sturdy and functional. Not overboard to highlight that anatomic area!
