The Sydney to Hobart yacht race has been cancelled for the first time in its 76 year history.

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia made the decision after the Tasmanian Premier barred people from the Northern Beaches and announced all travellers from Greater Sydney would have to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in the state.
The race was due to start in Sydney on Boxing Day.
