In The Shadow Of the Horns: Nordic Black Metal 30 Years Later (Part 2)

Part 2 to my 2022 documentary on the Original northern European Black Metal scene. In this part, we'll observe the events that began in 1993 which lead to Black Metal's peak media exposure and the events associated with the scene's downfall shortly thereafter in late 1993 and 1994. We'll also observe the state of Black Metal since the early 90s.

From 1991-1993, the original Norwegian Black Metal scene reigned supreme in Northern Europe. It found new ways to maximize extremities in terms of both musical sound and acts taken by musicians. A wave of terror engulfed the Nordic countries and other parts of the world with murder and arson. No metal scene earned as much infamy as the original Norwegian Black Metal Scene of the early 90s. We will revisit this controversial scene, its origins, its peak, its impact on other scenes, and its legacy 30 years later.
