St. Paul, Minnesota, Swears in Historic All-Women City Council

The city of St. Paul, Minnesota, made history when it swore in its first all-women city council on January 9.

With a population of a bit more than 300,000, St. Paul is believed to be among the largest cities in the U.S. to have a city council consisting entirely of women. In addition, six out of seven of the women are people of color, and all seven are under the age of 40. Historians believe this is St. Paul’s youngest and most racially diverse council.

The council added freshmen Anika Bowie, Saura Jost, HwaJeong Kim, and Cheniqua Johnson, who joined incumbents Mitra Jalali, Rebecca Noecker, and Nelsie Yang. #WatchThis
