Welcome to the Tactical Toolbox YouTube Channel. Today we're going over How To Clean an AR 15 and the Fastest Way to Clean an AR 15
Proper maintenance is essential to keeping your AR-15 in top condition, and cleaning and lubrication are key components of that maintenance. In this article, we will go over step-by-step instructions on how to clean and lube an AR-15.
Materials Needed:
AR-15 cleaning kit (includes bore brush, cleaning rod, cleaning patches, and lubricant)
Cleaning solvent
Gun oil or lubricant
Step 1: Safety Check
Before beginning any cleaning or maintenance on your AR-15, it is essential to ensure that the firearm is unloaded and that there is no ammunition in the immediate vicinity.
Step 2: Disassemble Your AR-15
Remove the upper and lower receivers, and separate the bolt carrier group from the upper receiver. Remove the charging handle and the buffer assembly from the lower receiver.
Step 3: Clean the Barrel
Attach the bore brush to the cleaning rod and apply cleaning solvent to the brush. Run the bore brush through the barrel several times to loosen any dirt, carbon buildup, or residue. Next, attach a cleaning patch to the cleaning rod and run it through the barrel to remove any remaining debris. Continue this process until the cleaning patch comes out clean.
Step 4: Clean the Bolt Carrier Group
Use a cleaning brush and solvent to clean the bolt carrier group, paying close attention to the bolt face, the firing pin, and the inside of the bolt carrier. Wipe down the bolt carrier group with a cleaning patch until it is clean.
Step 5: Clean the Upper and Lower Receivers
Use a cleaning brush and solvent to clean the upper and lower receivers, paying close attention to the trigger group and the chamber. Wipe down the receivers with a cleaning patch until they are clean.
Step 6: Lubricate the AR-15
Apply a few drops of gun oil or lubricant to the bolt carrier group, the charging handle, and the inside of the upper receiver. Apply a few drops of lubricant to the buffer assembly and the trigger group of the lower receiver.
Step 7: Reassemble Your AR-15
Reassemble your AR-15 by reversing the steps you took during disassembly.
Step 8: Function Check
Before taking your AR-15 out to the range, perform a function check to ensure that all parts are working properly.
In conclusion, cleaning and lubricating your AR-15 is an essential aspect of proper maintenance. By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your AR-15 functions reliably and remains in top condition.
