How To Replace Jointer Knives

Watch as I demonstrate one method to replace old jointer knives or "blades" and accurately set new ones. In this example, my old six inch jointer had knives that were nicked and dull from some antique wood I had put through the machine. Sometimes you can shift the knives a little to one side to avoid the nicks, but I had already done that. It was time for new knives.

There are a handful of methods to replace and align jointer knives, but I like this method in the video because it's simple and takes no special magnetic or commercial jigs. For my UK and Australian friends, a jointer is the same as a surface planer, okay?
