Dolly Parton & Christine Baranski talk gay new angel movie | Christmas on the Square Interview

To the LGBTQ community, Dolly Parton has always been a living angel. Now, the gay icon is playing one. And saving Christmas! (She really does do it all.)

In the country legend's musical extravaganza and Magical Union of Gay Icons "Christmas on the Square," which lands on Netflix November 22, Parton's "Angel" has her work cut out for her. That works involves Regina Fuller (fellow gay icon Christine Baranski), a heartless Scrooge in heels who returns to her small hometown after her father's death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer. And worse – it's right before Christmas.

After the internet was restored (a true pandemic-era Christmas miracle!), Parton and Baranski greeted interviewer Chris Azzopardi with cheers and applause to talk about how "Christmas on the Square" makes the yuletide very, very gay, what Parton looks for in an angel (rhinestones, natch!) and the characters Baranski has played that she says could definitely use an angel.
